Critical Home Repair Program

Critical Home Repair Program

The Critical Home Repair Program is designed for homeowners with larger projects that may take 4-6 weeks to complete.

How it works:

To be eligible, homeowner must:

  • HOMEOWNERS must submit a pre-qualification application for critical home repair services.
  • HAHFH staff will review the pre-qualification form, eligibility determination will be based on qualifying factors and the available funding sources to complete the repair.
  • HOMEOWNERS will be notified of a decision to either pursue a funding application for proposed services or deny services.
  • HAHFH will then complete a full home assessment to complete an estimate of services, and will determine which services, if any, fall within funding/program capabilities, budget, timeline etc.
  • HOMEOWNERS will sign an agreement for conduct and liability which includes the proposed scope of work for the home. Habitat does not agree to conduct any work on the home until an agreement is signed by both parties.
  • Have a financial need and a need for improved housing, and unable to perform repairs themselves or pay someone to do the repairs.
  • Own and occupy the home.
  • Have a total gross household income below 50% of Median area income.

Ineligible services include:

  • Mobile/trailer homes
  • Mold remediation
  • Cosmetic improvements/upgrades/renovation
  • Foundation repairs
  • Repairs on property which Helena Habitat deems unsafe for staff and volunteers.
