Habitat Helping Hands Program


Helena Habitat Volunteers offer a helping hand to limited-income older adults and people with disabilities of all ages.
The mission is to help people age in place and live at home as independently as possible.

Habitat Helping Hands repair projects are designed to be completed in one day, and can include:

To be eligible, homeowner must:

  • Installing grab bars/handrails
  • Installing doorknobs
  • Replace furnace filters
  • Window/door sealing
  • Installing/building wheelchair ramp
  • Minor electrical work (light switches, fixtures, plugs)
  • Minor plumbing work (faucets, toilets, handles, and only if the water shut off is under the sink.)
  • Limited painting (interior only)
  • Own and occupy the home.
  • Be over the age of 60 or a person with a disability.
  • Have a total gross household income below 50% of Median area income.

Ineligible services include:

  • Mobile/trailer homes, campers
  • Cosmetic improvements/upgrades/renovation
  • Mold remediation
  • Repairs on properties which Helena Habitat deems unsafe for staff, volunteers or contracted professionals.
