The Property Tax Assistance Program: This program provides a property tax reduction for property owners meeting certain household income guidelines. To find out more about this program, contact the Montana Department of Revenue at (406) 375-2700 or at 1707 N. 1st Street, Suite B, Hamilton. The Disabled American Veterans Program: This provides an exemption or reduction in property taxes depending upon your adjusted gross income. To qualify you must be honorably discharged from active service in the armed forces and currently rated 100% disabled, or currently compensated at the 100% disabled rate, due to a service-connected disability; or you are the unmarried surviving spouse of a veteran killed while on active duty or who died as a result of a service-connected disability, or who was rated or compensated at the 100% disabled rate at the time of death This program is also administered through the Montana Department of Revenue. Land Value Property Tax Assistance Program: This program helps residential property owners if the value of their land is disproportionately higher than the value of their home or other buildings on their land and the land has been in their family for at least 30 years.
