Foundations for families’: Habitat for Humanity opens 6 new East Helena homes

Helena Area Habitat for Humanity celebrated the official completion of six new homes Tuesday in an East Helena neighborhood.

“In a time when 80% of Montanans can’t afford a home in their own state, we are eager to build more, to do more, and to create more opportunities,” Executive Director Jacob Kuntz said to about 75 people. “We’re not just building homes. We’re building foundations for families in an amazing community. Nineteen children will now live in this cul-de-sac and attend local schools,” Kuntz said.

Kuntz thanked volunteers and local businesses who donated, including 406 Electric, Rodriguez Painting and Energy Share of Montana. He then invited Mike Wall, the owner of Power Townsend Co. and a major donor to Habitat for Humanity, to the front of one of the new homes to offer hammers to the homeowners.
